When people are in accident the insurance company for the vehicle who’s a fault will contact that person. Say don’t talk to a lawyer, just tell us everything about it and we’ll take good care of you. That’s never a good idea. Insurance companies are in business to make money, and the way they make money is by collecting premiums and holding on to that money, not by being generous and paying out lots of money in claims. So when an insurance company representative contacts you, their mission is really to get information from you that will help them defend their claims. They’re very skilled at it. It’s what they do all day long. I strongly advise people, if you’re in an accident, get an attorney to represent you, not speak to the other side. You’re under no obligation to do so.
